I’ve always been an artist, from the time I was a little girl, creating was something I loved. I was determined to be a Solid Gold Dancer. I believe I just dated myself. My love at 5 years old for Boy George is a whole other topic, I will not get into. The liberal arts has been a friend to me always. Solid Gold & Boy George aside, when I first picked up a paint brush, I fell head over heels in love. I painted and painted and painted. Over the years, my paint brush has been traded in for a camera and a Wacom Tablet, although I do try to revisit my first love from time to time. One of my favorite things to do while camping is paint.

I’ve been meaning to share this watercolor I did while camping at one of our favorite places in Idaho, Warm Lake. It’s a peaceful, beautiful place and I think of it every time I see my painting (minus the bad scan job).

Our poor dog. He was here 6 years before she was, do I really need to write anymore. She has claimed him as her own and loves him…he tolerates her. I’m pretty sure he’d sell her for a giant carrot if given the opportunity. Through his old man annoyed attitude I do catch him watching over her, I think he’s a softy at heart.

Funny recent story about the two of them: We got SO MUCH snow one day a couple weeks back. We all geared up and headed outside to make a snowman with some of the best packing snow ever. After making an awesome snowman body we were on the search for facial features and settled on a carrot nose. Not the best decision ever. You see, our dog (like a lot of dogs) loves carrots and it’s one of his regular treats. We affix rocks of varying shapes and sizes and plop the carrot nose in place. Satisfied, we head to the font yard to build a snow tower (we had just seen Tangled after all). Within 15 minutes we had a headless snowman missing a carrot nose and one rotten but happy dog. Natalie was none too thrilled.
