MIA | Idaho Portrait Photographer

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

It’s obvious that my blog posting has been non existent over the past month+, but it’s not due to a lack of content! I’m back to the blogging world this week as I start to SLOWLY get back to doing some work. On November 28th, I went through my third open heart surgery in my 31 years and have spent December in the first leg of my recovery. 1 month down, 2 more to go for “full recovery” and I can not wait to get back to normal! Each month a set of restrictions lift and I hope to be taking on portrait/boudoir sessions again the first of February. It’ll be nice to pick up my camera again! :)

Since I don’t have any images or video from my first two surgeries, it was important to me to document it this time at least a little. I won’t go into the day by day descriptions here, but if you are interested in that information just shoot me an email. The following images are not pretty as open heart surgery is obviously not pretty and it’s been rough, but each week is better than the last! My favorite image from the bunch is the very last one on the right, I was tube & IV free and signing my discharge papers 4 days after surgery! I’ve also documented my recovery in the hospital and at home via video and have a YouTube channel HERE.

*Tap tap* Is this mic on? I’ve been a bad blogger, but I’ve got lots to blog so keep coming back! OR ELSE! Please. :)

A few weeks ago, I attended my second annual Professional Photographers of Idaho state convention and just like last year, it did not disappoint. I’m fortunate to have found this group as I’ve made some great connections, learned a ton, changed my business for the better because of, and left totally inspired each time.

I’ve got some really great photography (and design) related goals that I am ready to make happen!

The first night at the convention SilverLake Photo Accessories in Twin Falls, Idaho held a Shoot Out and Bravo SilverLake, it was a blast! They set up their huge warehouse with several of their backdrop systems, lights & models and let us photographers have at it! I highly recommend them if you are in the market for a backdrop or photo accessories. Their backdrops are gorgeous!

Check out these images I shot using one of their rockin set ups!

PP of Idaho has a great line up of board members this year and I’m looking forward to all of the really great things they have planned for the improvement of this organization. If you are a professional photographer in business, a photographer eventually going to be in business, or even a photography student, I highly encourage you to join this organization. There is learning to be had by all levels and the resources of other professionals that you have access to is priceless!

Michigan Boudoir! Boise Boudoir Photographer

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Hey loyal blog readers, as you can see I’ve been a little MIA of late. Don’t worry though, it’s not due to a lack of gorgeous clients and their photo sessions! I recently returned from a vacation back home to the Midwest. I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan (shall I throw up the hand to show you all where? :) ) and I don’t visit nearly enough so I jetted 2K miles in the eastern direction to spend some time with family and friends.

Yes, it’s true, I did not vacation entirely as I’ve got a couple sessions from Michigan to share. :)

First up, a boudoir session in Grand Rapids at the super cool Hyatt Grand Rapids South. Loved this room!! Enjoy your blog love M, it was so great catching up with you!
